Rules

  • The exhibition runs Saturday and Sunday from 9-6pm each day. All exhibitions must be removed at 6pm.
  • The exhibits should be attached to the railings using string or other soft materials no “STRUCTURES” allowed. No items to be erected that are higher than the railings or that are likely to fall or be blown down and cause injury. This will be strictly enforced. Wire or other materials likely to cause damage to the railings should not be used. Do not use sticky tabs as these cannot be removed easily. No undue interference should be caused to other visitors of St Stephens Green. The pavement should be clear of boxes, tables and prints at all times.
  • All exhibits must be in place by 11:00 each day. Blank spaces will be reallocated at 11:00.
  • Each evening after the exhibition the area used should be left in a clean and tidy condition. All items used to mount your exhibition must be removed each evening.
  • Commercial advertisements, posters, handbills are not allowed.
  • Each photographer is responsible for his/her exhibits. No claims will be accepted by the organisers or The OPW.
  • The organiser has the right to request the removal of any photograph or display considered not appropriate for public display in this exhibition.
  • Completion of the Application Form and payment of Exhibition Fee confirms your acceptance of the rules.

Information
For anyone who has never exhibited on the Green before here are a few ideas on displaying your photographs.
Firstly ensure that you have all the materials you require, useful items to have on the weekend could include string, pegs, masking tape, pen and above all prints. Bluetac works well. The space available will hang at least 15 large mounted prints. Bring some plastic to protect your prints in case of rain. A fold up chair would also be useful.
The most common method to exhibit prints is to stretch string between the railings in two or three rows. The prints can then be attached to the string with pegs. Some exhibitors enclose their prints in acetate covers to protect them. These however can be expensive. Another method is to use the green gardening netting used by gardeners. This can be tied to the railings and again the prints can be attached with pegs. Prints can also be strung at home prior to the exhibition. This works well when all the mounts are the same size. The string can be knotted and the prints will sit between two pieces of string. This is a quick and convenient method to hang the prints. Prints could be attached to light board, which can then be hung on the railings with string.
Enjoy the weekend!

I am looking for a space this year to exhibit jointly with my husband. We do not have a website. We have a body of work. I don’t know if there is a vetting process to get a space but we are really interested in exhibiting. You might let me know if it’s just a question of checking your website regularly to see when spaces can be applied for, or can I get an email letting me know when to apply.

    Thank you,

    Anne McGrath.

    Are images containing nudity allowed?

  6. admin says:

Within reason, remember this is an open air exhibition with families and children around so pitch at that level. Artistic nudes have been displayed in previous years and there was no problem. We’re not prudes or out to ruin anyones day but we do reserve the right to ask you to take down an image if there is a problem (not that I can think of an occasion when we’ve done that, I certainly havent).
